What a relief as Sweet Pee committee wins Scalby potty protest

Ee, you have to laugh don't you - though not so funny if you've been waiting a couple of years for your local toilet to reopen. A tale of persistent potty waving pensioners and friends, in the elegantly named Sweet Pee committee, on BBC news website - almost the stuff of Alan Ayckbourn plays.

Includes:

"Residents have won their fight to get a public toilet reopened in a North Yorkshire village.

Scarborough Council closed Scalby's toilet - and several others - two years ago in a bid to save up to £86,000.

But villagers said they were well used by visitors and
elderly residents and protested against the move by marching down
Scalby High Street waving potties.

The facility has now reopened after the village's Sweet Pee committee raised enough money to run them for a year.
